The movement of the figure points in different directions: walking forward, yet stretching and arching back towards a passing light. The movement suggests a desperation and yearning to hold on to the inevitable: light, like time, is transitory. But unlike time that moves on in familiar patterns, light movement may be unpredictable, making it more precious and bringing on a greater anxiety.
