In spite of the benedictory gesture, this over-life-size naked female embodies a duality of rawness and strength. The large hands carry a twofold message: it is unclear whether she is the recipient of the first rain or its creator. The quiet largeness of the gesture and the pensiveness of the posture add an element of softness, while the precarious balance over the rock and the baldness of the head point to anxiety and exposure.
